The Band
Geary "Uncle G" Tucker - Vocals, Harp:
Geary is from North Alabama and didn't get into the music game until the early 1980's. But it didn't take long for him to prove, as frontman for the blues band "Crosscut", that he is a naturally gifted blues singer and one of North Alabama’s best. Audiences instantly respond to his passionate, powerful singing. As a member of The 4-Door Ramblers, he also rounds out the band playing harp and...oh yeah...did we mention he sings???. You can also catch him every week helping put on the Sunday Night Blues Jam at the Kaffeeklatsch in Huntsville, AL.
Trent "Thumper" Gilbert - Bass:
Blues great Willie Dixon's son, and some how related to James Brown and P-Funk bassist Bootsy Collins, Trent's been playing bass for longer than, well...we won't go there!!! Retired from the Army after 21yrs of service, he has played bass in numerous rock, country, and blues bands in locations all around the world including Phoenix, El Paso, Seattle, Kansas City, Savanna, and even Germany. He is primary influenced by Chris Squire of Yes and the late Allen Woody of The Allman Brothers and Government Mule. And if he looks familiar, it could be because he also plays for Crosscut, another great North Alabama blues band. These days, his current weapon of choice is a custom built Carvin LB75, fretless 5 string played thru a Carvin 18" rig (don't even ask about the Ampeg Portabass).
Freddy "Kaiser" Faust - Vocals, Guitar:
Freddy Earl Faust has had a guitar in his hands since the tender age of three...ok, so what if it was a "Bugs Bunny" guitar, complete with crank handle??? That didn’t stop him from asking folks on the rural streets of Germany,..."Hey lemme play you a song"!!! At the age of six he found his Dad’s acoustic guitar in the closet, dusty, with broken strings, and snuck it outside. It immediately attracted the attention of all the little girls in the neighborhood. It was then that he realized...I'm gonna be a guitar slinger. And the rest, as they say, is history. Freddy Earl's gritty, in your face, move over rover, guitar style and sound has been shaped by years of Power Trio rock band influences, such as the CREAM, Robin Trower, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience. But, what really "twangs" his "Strat" is the blues tunes that these bands did. Freddy Earl has been playing in the HSV area for longer than he can remember, with folks he'll never forget. He’s been a part of bands such as “The Lonesome Kings”, “Ms. Johnnie’s Blues Band”, and “The Blues Mercenaries”. When he's not slinging six strings for the " The Ramblers " he can be caught around town doing duets with a "Resonator and an Upright Bass" for a band that is a happy accident and doesn't have a name yet. You can also catch him every Sunday night as host of The Kaffeeklatsch’s "Sunday Night Blues Jam ", featuring “Freddy Earl and the Blues Mercenaries".
Darryl Moore - Drums:
Darryl Moore (percussion) was born in 19 something or other into a very close-knit family. He attended the prestigious Wetumpka School of Higher Learning where he bred sheep to pay for his college tuition. He graduated Suma Cum Last with a degree in 13th Floor Elevators. Darryl began his musical career playing the Juice Harp while tending his sheep. He was forced to give it up when he lost his teeth in an unfortunate sheep herding accident. He then began learning to blow a jug but had to give it up because he kept blowing out his false teeth. He has since mastered many musical instruments, including the handsaw, spoons, and the #2 washtub. He also composes Appalachian Front Porch Sonatas. Due to his mastering of the #2 washtub and being pretty handy collecting fire kindling for the Front Porch concerts, he decided to try to learn to play the drums. We’re optimistic he’ll eventually learn...What more can you expect from a drummer?!!
